St. Stephens Historical Park

St. Stephens Historical Park is a beautifully preserved site that holds great historical significance. It served as Alabama’s territorial capital from 1817-1819 and was an important center of commerce and political activity. At the park, visitors can explore the ruins of the old town, including the courthouse, jail, and other buildings that have been carefully restored.

One of the most notable features of the park is the Territorial Legislature Building, where Alabama’s first constitution was written and signed. It is now a museum that houses exhibits on Alabama’s Territorial and early statehood periods.

In addition to the fascinating historical sites, St. Stephens Historical Park features hiking trails that provide stunning views of the Tombigbee River, as well as picnic facilities and campsites for visitors.

Overall, the park is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in history, nature, or just looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
